Introduction

This website hosts a work-in-progress, and tells the story of a family whose origins lay in Glen Orrin in the Scottish Highlands.  It is essentially a story about three brothers - Roderick, Alexander and Colin Munro - and how they and their descendants came to be scattered through three countries - Scotland, the USA and New Zealand. It is also a story of family life through several generations, and of the struggle of the human spirit in the face of great hardship.  This little history of an ordinary family tossed about by the wider currents of social and economic change is written in the hope that it will be of interest to its surviving members, like me, but also to our children, and our children's children.

A number of people have helped me to research this story, but I would particularly like to thank Sheila Munro, Dennis Munro, Lynne Bramlett, Carl Robinson, Keith Munro, Jeanne Knowles and Katharine Pelican.
